In this tutorial, you'll use Shopify Functions to create a original discount type that offers a percentage off when customers purchase more than the minimum quantity of each product.

Create and test your discount

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Discounts.

2. If you have existing discounts from previous tutorials, then click the checkbox next to each of them, and then click Deactivate discounts.

3. Click the Create discount button.

4. Click the Tiered amount off products button.

   

5. Fill in values for the discount:

   • For Method, use Automatic.
   • For Title, use Volume.
   • For Minimum quantity field on the first line, use 3.
   • For Discount percentage field on the first line, use 5.
   • For Minimum quantity field on the second line, use 5.
   • For Discount percentage field on the second line, use 10.
   • Add specific collection.

6. Click Save. You should see a new discount in the discounts list.

   

7. Open your store and build a cart with items from your collection that you have added to Specific Collection. No discounts should be applied to the cart.

8. Increase the item quantity to 3. The 5% Volume discount should now be applied to the cart.

   

9. Increase the item quantity to 5. The 10% Volume discount should now be applied to the cart.
